Maintenance Coordinator – Red Wing

This is a Full-time position in Red Wing, MN posted February 12, 2021.

The maintenance coordinator position is a key leadership role within the technical department.  The coordinator interacts with contractors, vendors, and the production department.  It is important to maintain quality relationships with all these groups.  The coordinator also works with the department manager to identify projects, major maintenance activities, and effectively manages day to day challenges the team faces.

  1. Identifies maintenance activities and schedules work according to priority.  Plans several weeks in advance.  Responsible for maintenance program for the plant including the storeroom, CMMS, and all aspects of maintaining mineral fiber production equipment.  Leads maintenance activities during downtime.
  2. Coaches and develops maintenance team leaders and supports training and development for in-plant technical resources.  Direct reports include team leaders, maintenance planner, and storeroom clerk. 
  3. Identifies potential capital projects and works with the technical manager and engineer to develop projects (capital, non-routine, and infrastructure) and execute work through completion reports.  This role also works with corporate project managers for corporate handled projects.  This position is involved with initial layouts, equipment specifications, contractor bidding, work execution, and project follow-up.
  4. Works to continuously improve plant operations through equipment improvements and process changes.  Able to utilize team member talent to achieve plant outcomes.
  5. Plans contractor work to complete necessary maintenance activities.  Able to deliver feedback to improve relationships and work quality.
  6. Maintains and documents work activities, project progress, and safety incident management and corrective action.
  7. Investigates accidents/near misses to identify and correct root causes.
  8. Works with the department manager to identify and drive safety activities for the team.
  9. Supports and enforces plant policies and initiatives.  Supports corporate initiatives including LEAN and LSS.  Is the key individual bridging the relationship between the department manager and the maintenance team.  Effectively answers questions, responds to comments, and address daily team concerns.  Elevates concerns as needed to the manager.
  10. Administers model programs as assigned. Any and all tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  1. Ability to effectively coach and develop direct and/or indirect reports and deliver feedback.  Adheres to a quarterly coaching schedule.
  2. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and manage emotions during stressful situations.
  3. Can utilize available labor to complete maintenance activities.  Able to identify work to postpone and work to complete immediately.
  4. Possesses a “can-do” attitude and able to instill the same attitude within the team.
  5. Able to use Microsoft Office programs – word, excel, outlook, teams, PowerPoint, etc.
  6. Able to self-reflect and adjust approach in completing objectives.
