To learn more about our dynamic, stable and growing company, visit www.Balchem.ComPOSITION SUMMARY:Balchem has a challenging opportunity for a to work at our Albert Lea, MN plant to improve process efficiencies, operational troubleshooting, capital project design and site safety.

This position will follow Balchem’s core values in providing operations support to meet business needs required to grow the Albert Lea, MN plant.

He/she will be involved in all aspects of running of the plant and overseeing the manufacturing processes as well as developing new processes to improve operational efficiency or decrease operating costs.

In addition to operations support, the process engineer will lead the site’s employee and process safety programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Manage and coordinate process improvement activities to achieve production, safety and efficiency goals* Evaluate and implement projects that reduce cost, increase value, and improve quality; * Lead continuous improvement; develop and evaluate Lean Sigma opportunities and coordinate and assist in implementation* Deliver timely and effective technical support to address immediate or long-term operational issues* Successfully implement site and process improvements including capital projects* Collaborate with facility management to define technical needs and capital improvement requirements, recommend capital projects and assist in the execution and startup of projects; responsible for operational performance of new installations, product scale ups* Manage Engineering change process* Develop, maintain and implement local engineering practices, standards and management systems in accordance with Process Safety Management* Ensure that all Safety, Health and Environmental systems are upheld to ensure environmental compliance and safety* Assist in the development of new or updated Process Safety Information including P& ID updates, Heat & Material balances, operational procedures and documentation* Abide by MOC process* Implement mechanical integrity program; develop and maintain the equipment inspection schedule* Interface effectively with other departments and team members such as commercial, accounting, QA and procurement* Review production data routinely to ensure accuracy and analyze for improvements* Set a positive leadership example and develop/inspire supervisors, operators and mechanics to more effectively perform their responsibilities* Troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production* Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and train operators on processes and process changes* Support all new product introductions and trials; assist in the development of new products and processes* Set up process capability measurement and training to ensure customer needs are met* Lead health and safety efforts on site; design and implement process safeguards* Have a thorough understanding of the equipment and troubleshoot reliability issues* Generate downtime analysis reports and performs Pareto Analysis on resultsREQUIREMENTS:* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, especially, Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial* Minimum of 5 years of process improvement and operational experience* Good data management and analysis skills* Problem solving skills* Personable, team player, strong interpersonal skills* Ability to achieve proficiency in all aspects of Spray Dry processing and the ability to instruct and train operators on best practices* Must be willing to take ownership of a problem and have a positive can do attitude* Capacity to learn* Enthusiastic/positive approach to their work* Attention to detail* Ability to work self-directed (day to day)* High level of initiative, priority settingWORKING CONDITIONS:* Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing plant setting and walking the plant floor* Subject to ambient conditionsBalchem is committed to a workplace culture that values and promotes diversity, inclusion, equal employment opportunities, and a work environment free of harassment and hostility.#INPI133379977
